Compress pdf
Windows: Compress PDF using PDF24 Creator (Free, offline)
1. Download and Install PDF24 Creator
Go to https://tools.pdf24.org/en/creator and download.
2. Open PDF24 Creator
Start the program.
3. Load your PDF
Drag and drop your PDF into the program window.
4. Compress PDF
Click on Optimize PDF.
Choose compression settings (e.g., lower resolution for images).
Click Start and save the compressed file.
Windows: Compress PDF using Adobe Acrobat Pro (not free, offline)
1. Open your PDF in Adobe Acrobat Pro
Launch Adobe Acrobat Pro.
Click File > Open and select the PDF you want to compress.
2. Go to the Compress Option
Click File > Save as Other > Reduced Size PDF.
3. Set Compatibility
A dialog box appears:
Choose the newest version (e.g., Acrobat 10.0 or later) for the best compression.
(Choosing an older version will be more compatible but may compress less.)
4. Save
Choose the location and filename.
Click Save.
Mac: Compress PDF using Preview (Built-in App)
1. Open the PDF in Preview
Right-click the PDF → Open With > Preview.
2. Export the PDF
Click File > Export (not "Save As").
3. Choose “Quartz Filter”
In the export window, find the Quartz Filter dropdown.
Choose Reduce File Size.
4. Save
Pick your filename/location and hit Save.
